'Tis the season when Community Block Grants are once again available to those worthy organizations with a plan to help the most people or provide needed services.

TWENTYNINE PALMS — Just over $4.3 million in requests will begin a search, for $141,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds available through the city this year, at a special workshop at Twentynine Palms City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road. The hour-long workshop, which will precede the regular city council meeting, has been set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. Of the $141,000 available through the city of Twentynine Palms, $21,153 will be available for community service programs while the bulk will be available for construction projects, Community Services Director Randy Councell said.
