Quick thinking neighbors save stabbing victim
La Quinta– Neighbors came to the rescue of a 34 year old woman who was stabbed several times during a domestic altercation Tuesday night at about 9:30 PM. The first aid and quick action by the off-duty nurse and other residents is believed to have helped save the victim’s life.
A 34-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by her boyfriend in a domestic violence incident and is in critical condition. Nick Caupain, 32 of La Quinta, has been arrested for attempted murder. There are no other suspects in this incident.
Officers from the La Quinta Police Department were dispatched to a stabbing in the 79300 block of Camino Del Oro. Residents of that neighborhood reported a woman in the street, covered in blood. When officers arrived, they found the 34-year-old woman lying on the sidewalk being treated by residents, including a nurse who stopped her vehicle to help. Officers arrested Nick Caupain, who was still at the scene, without incident.
Caupain and the victim had a dating relationship and were in Caupain’s home on Camino Del Oro when they had a dispute that resulted in the stabbing. Caupain will be booked into Indio Jail for attempted murder.
